Thanksgiving Days of Service

Our Thanksgiving Days of Service Project both supported and leveraged the Open Doors Food Pantry to provide Thanksgiving Dinner Boxes (with turkeys included) to needy families along with regular monthly food distribution. CTC Rotary worked with Running Brook Elementary School (RBES) staff to arrange for 20 families to receive Thanksgiving Dinner Boxes at the ODFP, providing transportation to 8 families who had no other way to get there. In all, 156 families were served covering 672 individuals that day.

Specifically, CTC Rotary did the following:

  • Funded 32 Thanksgiving Dinner Boxes ($960) – Thanks to Jan, Valerie, Suzanne, Alan, David, Roger, Manisha, John Slater & Sharon who bought 1 or more dinners.
  • November 15th (6-7:30 pm) – David, Jan, Harsana & Sharon helped pack 134 Thanksgiving Dinner Boxes (5 volunteer hours)
  • November 16th (12:30-5 pm) – Larry, Lisa & Sharon helped unload dry goods and Set up for distribution (9 volunteer hours)
  • Nov 17th (7am–3 pm)- Larry, Jan, Alvin, Valerie, Harsana, Alan & Sharon transported RBES families to Food Pantry and helped distribute food and Thanksgiving Dinner Boxes. (35 volunteer hours)
